Weekly burger specials plus 2 happy hours at Char’d Grill
R99 for two burgers and R30 for all wine, beer and gin
Char’d Grill & Wine Bar is arguably Hermanus’, if not the Western Cape’s, most unique restaurant experiences. Best known for its steak, steampunk aesthetic and out-of-the-box approach to dining, it is also loved by locals for its inventive burgers and affordable weekly specials.
WEEKLY BURGER & DRINKS SPECIALS
Every Monday to Thursday, from 12pm to 4pm, Char’d Grill & Wine Bar offers a two-for-one deal on its must-have burgers. For R99, foodies can get two plain burgers (a choice of beef, chicken, or vegetarian patties) topped with gherkins and lettuce.
In addition, there’s also a R30 per glass deal on beer, gin, and local wine every day of the week during the happy “hour” that runs from 5 pm to 7 pm.
ORDER ONE OF CHAR’D’S 11 IMAGINATIVE BURGERS
Owner Petri Hendriksz says, “In addition to our steak experience, we also have awesome burgers. Our mince is made onsite, following the modern trend to utilise as much of the carcass as possible and having our on-site butchery.”
There are 11 burgers on the Char’d Grill menu. These include the Cheese Fondue Burger (R120), topped with fries, beef trimmings and a cheese sauce; and a burger topped with cheesy jalapeño and spicy syrup sauce, named The Cyril Burger (R95) after South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Arguably its most decadent and delicious creation is the Char’d Signature Mash & Gravy Burger (R120), which consists of a burger patty topped with truffle potato purée, a rich jus and topped with fried onions.
There’s also a burger option for vegetarians, called the Reggie Veggie (R85), a more-ish potato-and-vegetable rosti patty topped with pickled carrots and a fresh herb dressing. Plus there are many more options for non-meat eaters at Char’d Grill.
