How the 30-year celebration of Nelson Mandela's release from prison will impact your commute
City Hall is hosting a 30th anniversary commemoration of Nelson Mandela's release from prison. The event, which is free to attend, will have performances by Thandiswa Mazwai and a speech by President Cyril Ramaphosa among a host of other talks and lectures.
The event is happening outside the venue, so the area will be cordon off. Here are the closures and restrictions you can expect.
- Darling Street and surrounds will have traffic restrictions in place until 10pm on Tuesday, 11 February 2020.
- No vehicles will be allowed to stop in front of City Hall between Parade and Corporation Streets.
- Darling Street will be closed to traffic between Lower Plein and Buitenkant Streets until the conclusion of the event.
- During this time, no parking will be permitted in Corporation Street and Parade Street.
Here are more things to do this weekend.
