East City Wine is bringing Roeland Street back to life with a vibrant pop-up wine bar. Think a buzzing street corner, vibey music, free flowing wine and people from all over Cape Town. This bar is taking “painting the town red” to a whole new level. Taste wine with a story, munch on street food from around the city and vibe to local djs.
The pop-up is hosted the first and last weekend of the month. Image: East City Wine
The pop-up will be hosted on the first and last weekend of each month (including First Thursdays). It aims to bring together people from all over the city while spotlighting some incredible local creatives for all to enjoy.
East City Wine will be open on First Thursdays and exhibiting art from various local artists. Image: East City Wine
Each event will host a new street-food company (like Side Wing, which catered for April’s event), new art exhibitions and emerging local DJs. See the schedule below for more details on the dates.

From a small batch of Pét-Nat from the Swartland to Khayelitsha’s Finest Wines, made by Lindile Ndzaba, the pop-up bar carefully curates the wine to create a unique, tasting experience. Some of the wine brands, like Lubanzi Wines, also donate their profits to local charities. On top of that, you can also enjoy free wine tastings.
The pop up will soon introduce a special orange wine as well as bottomless bubbly during happy hour. Image: East City Wines
The décor has an industrial feel. Crates are used as chairs and bars, handmade cushions and street lighting pours into the space. The pop-up flows out into the street, inviting all who walk by into the space. Anyone is welcome to stroll in and taste wine and meet new people.
The space is designed to have a minimalist feel to keep the focus on the people, art, food and wine. Image: East City Wine
East City Wine is open: First and last weekend of every month; 2pm - midnight
