Sunday Roast and Carvery at Dale’s Black Angus
How good does apricot-glazed gammon sound?
Not in the mood to be in the kitchen on Sunday? We feel you. How about heading out for a weekly plated Sunday roast or the deluxe carvery, which takes place every last Sunday of the month (the Sunday roast will not be available on this day), at Dale’s Black Angus.
The Milnerton family eatery (inside The Paddocks Shopping Centre) serves up a carvery that includes a selection of tapas and salads, peri-peri chicken livers, herbed marrow bones, sliced lamb shank in pinotage and apricot-glazed gammon.
There’s always a great selection of desserts, including apple custard tarts, baked cheesecake, and yoghurt and fruit parfait. The plated roast includes options such as roast lamb, roast baby beef rump, roast potatoes, vegetables, plus a dessert.
DALE’S IS ALL ABOUT STEAK
Dale’s Black Angus is the home of the Special Reserve 21, their signature dish since 1984. It’s a beautifully tender, side-seared fillet tenderloin (which has been matured for 21 days) topped with herb butter and cooked to perfection. The restaurant also serves burgers, salads, fish and lasagne – there’s a little bit of everything at Dale’s Black Angus.
On the wilder side of things, try the Taste of South Africa menu. Dishes include Crazy Ostrich (ostrich fan fillet seared in jalapeno butter, draped with melted camembert), Three Musketeers (ostrich, kudu and springbok medallions, each with its own sauce) and The Big Five (warthog and impala are added for a feast of plains game).
TAPAS AND FREE FOCACCIA
A new addition to the menu is tapas. This features dishes such as springbok carpaccio sprinkled with chives, mini-cheese croquettes and southern-fried chicken strips. And if you select up to four items (the kitchen makes 10 daily), you’ll receive a fifth complimentary tapas dish and a free garlic focaccia.
BEERS AND A BAR BASKET
It’s also a good place to go for a mid-afternoon meeting, after-work drinks or for catching the sport at the bar (which leads out to the terrace). The lunch menu is available from midday until 5pm and features meals such as nachos, prego steak roll and chips or the bar basket, with riblets, poppers, calamari and more.
