Slow Sunday Lunch on the Banks of the Swartvlei
A relaxed four-course meal, live music and dancing under the umbrellas in Sedgefield
A very South Africa Nicoise salad. Butter chicken curry, slow-braised brisket, creamy spinach and mash. All under umbrellas with lush greenery on the banks of the Swartvlei lake. And to the tune of live music. Welcome to Slow Sundays at Lakeside Lodge & Spa in Sedgefield.
TAKE YOUR TIME: SUNDAYS BY THE LAKE
It’s almost like a picnic meets the bistro experience. The brasserie’s shaded outdoor section looks out over lush greenery, and you’re a stone’s throw from the lake. There’s live music – nothing too loud, just an ideal atmosphere for an easy Sunday and some dancing, should the mood take you.
And then there’s the menu. Easy. Four courses. Spread out over three hours. And offering plenty of options for every taste.
THE SLOW SUNDAY LUNCH MENU
Start with your choice of bacon and mushroom “sout tert” or lemon calamari with a touch of peri-peri on a bed of lettuce. There’s also a bread-and-dips option or a Nicoise salad with a South African twist to discover.
For mains, there’s a fragrant butter chicken curry with rot and yoghurt or sirloin with cauliflower gratin or jus. Else try the slow-braised beef brisket or perhaps the roasted pork belly with mushy peas. Sides, from chips to creamed spinach and mash are available, too.
End off with a flourless chocolate torte and berry ice cream or churros with chocolate and a delightful brownie ice cream.
