These options of thing to do on Heritage Day are a true celebration of our culture, history and heritage

We’re according Heritage Day, Monday 24 September, the respect it deserves. There’s a proudly African cultural gathering; a music festival on a heritage site; and a fresh take on the braai at a wine farm full of the art of a South African legend.

Heritage Square has a fascinating history dating back to the 18th century. On 23 September from 3pm, restaurants HQ and Roast & Co., the Cape Heritage Hotel (built in 1780) and The Courtyard, all housed on the square, are hosting a South Africa-centric soirée. There’s a mix of different types of music and featured artists, including Goodluck, Crazy White Boy and Strange Loving. There’ll also be traditional African face painting and dancers. Food is served at top-notch steakhouse HQ and the upscale chicken rotisserie restaurant Roast & Co.
