It's Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts Time
Southern Wild, Don Vino and more will make Sunday sunsets even better

There are a number of things that signal the start of summer in Cape Town: Clear skies, hot days and the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts. The 2019/2020 summer series kicks off on 24 November and as usual promises a star ridden lineup of musical acts. The lineup of performers has been released and, while it looks like there will be a few more performers announced, it's jam packed with some mouthwatering acts.
WHO TO LOOK OUT FOR
The festival kicks off with Cape based, seven piece Crimson House sharing the bill with Kirstenbosch festival newbies Southern Wild.
The pre Christmas Sunday show has former Idols contestant Shekhinah sharing the stage with Unathi, while there’s a bumper three artist lineup featuring Freshlyground, Nomadic Orchestra and Native Young on New Year’s Eve.
Veteran rockers Watershed and house trio Mi Casa also have appearances, while 2020 sees the annual show by the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cape Town Folk ‘n Acoustic Music Festival. Rappers Kwesta, Sjava and AKA bring some swag to the sunset concerts, Sho Madjozi shares a bill with Prince Kaybee while Loop machine master Jeremy Loops plays some of his radio hits. The series closes with a saxophone supremo double header as Andrew Young and Don Vino usher out the sunset concerts with their saxy sounds.
