PAPA (Photographic Archival and Preservation Association) was founded by Gavin Furlonger - in collaboration with Catherine Le Sueur - in 2006 in recognition of South African Photographers whose lifeworks were in urgent need of being preserved.

From some of the examples of work that have been uncovered so far, it is clear to see the sheer brilliance and craftsmanship of the images that have been captured over the ages. They are significant treasures that were in real danger of being lost forever.
