Let The Locals Guide You Through Franschhoek In The Name Of This Great Cause

The Franschhoek Hospitality Academy have curated the perfect experience for you to experience the local culture

The Franschhoek Hospitality and Learning Academy invite you to join them on an interactive tour around the quaint town of Franschhoek. The concept is a simple one, offering locals and tourists alike an intimate guided walk through the informal settlements surrounding Franschhoek, followed by a traditional South African lunch. Although you’ll be exposed to the rich culture and unique history of this community, the beauty of this initiative lies in its purpose.

GATHER TOGETHER
Kopano, which means ‘gathering’ in Sotho, is the brainchild of the Franschhoek Hospitality and Learning Academy, who have teamed up with some of the country’s best chefs. The academy aims to provide hospitality training to the disadvantaged youth from Franschhoek’s surrounding communities.

The brilliant initiative has been developed to help raise funds to cover the academy’s operating costs, as well as to provide a training platform for its students to practice what they have been taught.

A JOURNEY WITH THE LOCALS
Gathering, in reference to the name, is exactly what this tour is about. You’ll be collected at 11am from the NG Church parking lot and then taken in a shuttle to the starting point for the informal settlement walk with Athi (your local tour guide). Afterwards, you can look forward to local storytelling as well as a musical performance. To top off the tour, enjoy an authentic South African lunch prepared by the academy’s students. The shuttle will head back to the church at 2pm.

TICKETS FOR THE 2018 KOPANO GATHERING
Tickets for the Kopano experience are R600/p and can be purchased at http://www.franschhoekhospitalityacademy.co.za. Please note that during April and August only bookings of 10 or more can be made for the tour. This is an ongoing event and tours take place weekly on Mondays and Fridays. This is perfect for a group of visiting tourists passing through and also an awesome opportunity to round up a group of friends to share this special experience with. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes as parts of the tour are done on foot.
