Join Funny Man Marc Lottering at Comedy in Vines at Spier Wine Estate

For Good Laughs, Great Company, Delicious Food and a Chance to See Marc Lottering, Head to Comedy in the Vines

Cape Town funny man, Marc Lottering, is known across South Africa for his hilarious skits, legendary fictional characters (cue Aunty Merle) and for just being an all-around good guy. On Saturday, 24 February head to Comedy in the Vines at Spier Wine Estate for the Hashtag Lottering show.

Cape Town native Marc Lottering has been the funny man we have grown to love for many years. His antics and various characters have had South Africans both locally and abroad in stitches. Donning his signature white stripe in is bouncy curly hair, Marc has starred in many theatre productions, mostly recently Aunty Merle the Musical.

HE GETS YOU LAUGHING NON-STOP

Following his breakthrough one-man show in 1997, After the Beep, Marc quickly garnered a fan base – as the once-predominately white male stand-up comedy base saw a new flavour coming through. Once this funny man became a household name, he completed various other self-scripted one-man shows such as From the Cape Flats with Love, Grootbek and Hallelujah.

Being a man of many talents, in 2013 he starred as a fictional version of himself in the SABC3 sitcom Loitering in Jozi. The sitcom documented an up-and-coming stand-up comedian navigate his way from Cape Town to Johannesburg and often leading to disastrous events and outcomes. However, no man is an island, and as such, Marc performed with fellow comedians Riaad Moosa and Nik Rabinowitz in Three Wise Men and its sequel, directed by David Kramer. He also played a salient part in the Bafunny Bafunny Comedy Tour, which saw him performing at the Royal Albert Hall alongside other South African acts. Marc has received numerous accolades over the years some of which are: the 2001 Vita Award for Best Actor in a Comedy and multiple Fleur du Cap Awards.

Different characters:

  • Aunty Merle: The housewife from Belgravia in Cape Town.
  • Smiley: The taxi “Gatjie” from Cape Town.
  • Galatia Geduldt: Aspiring singer who believes she is the next Mariah Carey.
  • Pastor Brandon: Pastor of a warehouse church.
  • Colleen: The cashier from hell.
  • Travis: The original cool dude.
