Happy Hour Special at Rick’s Café Américain
With over 600 beverage options, you'll certainly be spoilt for choice
Of all the gin joints, in all the world, you have to make a turn at this one! This Casablanca-themed restaurant and popular watering hole has a daily happy hour special that is simply irresistible. Everyday from 3pm to 7pm Rick’s Café Américain offers a discounted cocktail menu for you to enjoy.
Perfectly located just off the Mother City’s trendy Kloof Street, the swanky eatery provides a casual and comfortable, but still lively, alternative to the ever-buzzing commotion found a mere 100m away, whilst offering diners the option to join the excitement later if they wish.
Rick’s Café boasts 600 beverage items. If none of the 45 cocktails and beers discounted during the happy hour special put you in a party mood then you have 30 gin options, 35 tequila brands, 60 beer varieties and 140 different wines to choose from, amongst other choices. If you find yourself a little peckish the menu offers a smorgasbord of mouth-watering Moroccan-themed cuisine options
A good idea is to order a mezze platter for the table to share. For R145 you will get an array of olives, aubergines, zucchini skewers, marinated feta, pickled mushrooms, chickpea salad, falafels, spiced carrot dip, hummus and pita bread. The meat-eaters might be more inclined to opt for the tapas platter. This dish includes olives, lamb kofta, chicken brochettes, fish cakes, calamari, Moroccan meatballs, chilli poppers, peppadew dip, crudites, tzatziki, hummus and pita bread, and costs R165. Rick’s tajines are legendary and you can pick between lamb for R195, chicken for R155, venison or duck for R185 each, lentil and aubergine for R105, or a seafood tajine for R215. Their burgers are phenomenal and worth a try too – basically, you'll be able to find whatever you're looking for on this extensive menu.
And with street-side dining and a gorgeous rooftop deck, patrons can soak up the sun during the warmer months, or snuggle up to the outside heaters and a glass of Gluhwein when the weather is a little chilly.
We suggest you ‘round up the usual suspects’ (you’ll understand this reference if you’ve seen the movie Casablanca!) and head to Rick’s Cafe Americain for their incredible three-hour happy hour special. We're sure it’ll be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
