Get Comfy at Kirstenbosch Movie Nights on Wednesdays and Thursdays

Great films, fabulous scenery, delicious food and cosy seats – look forward to a night of romance and entertainment

The perfect mid-week stress reliever is sitting under a canopy of stars at the picturesque Kirstenbosch Gardens, while enjoying blockbusters such as The Holiday, Pretty Woman or The Breakfast Club. Plus, there is a special Halloween screening of Pet Sematary (2019) as well as a special Christmas screening of How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Every Wednesday and Thursday, film-lovers get the chance to laze on the lush lawns of Cape Town’s oldest botanical garden with popcorn, picnic baskets and a consistent dose of cult classics, rom-coms and some award-winning dramas. 

What’s more, if you’re in too much of a rush to pack a picnic box, the open-air cinema area boasts a wide array of gourmet food and drink vendors peddling yummy treats and, of course, popcorn – as no movie is complete without it.

There are also interactive games and music to keep you and the family entertained before the shows start. Doors open at 6pm, and the movies start after sunset.

Tickets for the entire season are now on sale and can be purchased online via TheGalileo.co.za. Do note that if the show sells out online, no tickets will be available at the door. Space is limited, so book early to avoid disappointment. Gift vouchers are also available via the site.
