French cuisine is as recognisable as Italian, Thai and Chinese; the food of a nation with influences that can be seen all over the world. On Tuesday, 16 May 2017 from 6:30pm onwards, Ginger and Lime are hosting a French-themed cooking class to help you put a little va va voom back into your culinary lives.
After all the drama in France (what with Macron beating Le Pen in an election that saw frighteningly few people cast a vote), we think that emulating the stereotypical French image is the perfect solution to a stressful week; enjoy some garlicky mussels with white wine, binge on French loaves and cheese and finally, crack the top and sink your spoon into a heavenly creamy creme brulee. If creme brulee is on the menu, it is simply not ethical to walk away without enjoying the delightful French treat.
As with all of the classes at Ginger and Lime, you will be taken care of by a team of very knowledgeable instructors who know French cuisine better than you know your own mother. Yes, she had a life before you. No, you don’t get to hear about it. The ingredients, recipe cards, professional help, and even drinks are all included. If you love a certain wine (for me it’s anything Rose, it’s an addiction) then Ginger and Lime are more than happy for you to bring it along as they will not be charging corkage! Just remember that some of the wine needs to go into the food; it won’t taste right if it gets skipped (one, because the balance will be off and two, because you’ll probably be blottoed).
The menu for the French Cooking Class at Ginger and Lime is as follows:
Tapenade with toasted baguette
Lightly Poached Fish of the day with a beurre blanc served on wilted spinach
Green beans with brown butter and toasted almonds
Duck breast a l'Orange served on a bed of mashed butternut
Beef Bourguignon with red wine and mushrooms
Pears Poached in Red Wine.
BOOKINGS FOR THE 2017 FRENCH COOKING CLASS AT GINGER AND LIME
As previously stated, the cost of the experience includes the meal, the ingredients, the recipe, the expertise of some very talented chefs and even some wine. It is priced per person, and the total cost is R650p/p.
If you are interested in this experience (which you really should be), you can book your place with Ginger and Lime by giving them a ring on +27 (0)83 660 1146 or drop them an email to the following address - info@gingerandlime.co.za.
