There are African drumming experiences, and then there’s Drumstruck. South Africa’s first authentic drumming-theatre experience has returned from Broadway to play limited shows in Cape Town at a most spectacular venue.
Whether you are a music lover, a culture seeker or simply love a good party, you won’t want to miss Drumstruck at Silvermist Wine Estate. The Cape Town shows are accompanied by an interactive wine tour. The first showcase is on Friday 21 October.
The shows run daily from Tuesdays to Sundays. Image: Drumstruck
Drumstruck, which has just returned from a global tour, including an 18-month stint in New York, Australia, and a 10-year run in Japan, uses the African drum to stir deep soul conversations and to delight audiences of all ages, from all walks of life.
The Drumstruck show at Silvermist is a scaled-down version of the international production, which has been described as “STOMP meets The Lion King,” but it will be no less spellbinding.
The cast of Drumstruck will use elements of storytelling, learning, showmanship, and interactivity to compel local audiences to get up and out of their seats. Each audience member will get their own djembe drum and will play and sing along with the show, sharing in the collective celebration of African music and culture.

The Drumstruck interactive extravaganza is preceded by a wine experience at Silvermist Wine Estate, home to the world-renowned La Colombe restaurant.
Silvermist is the only organic wine estate in Constantia, surrounded by the Table Mountain nature reserve, and offers guests some of the most diverse and unspoilt terrain in the city, with uninterrupted views of the Cape Peninsula.

The winning combination of good wine at a beautiful estate and thrilling musical entertainment will be a draw for many locals.
At Silvermist you’ll participate in a wine tasting with owner and winemaker Gregory Brink Louw, a captivating storyteller, who will teach you about the history of the Constantia Valley.
You’ll also get to savour exclusive South African wines, including the rare Silvermist organic wines. Parents will be delighted to know that there is a child-friendly option too, with a uniquely South African tea tasting on offer.
Thereafter Drumstruck’s top percussionists will delve into rare African instruments, illustrating the journey from the first drum to the newest high-tech electronic instruments.
