‘Cuppa 4 Care’ Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and Art Auction for Iris House Children’s Hospice

Attend a real-life Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in support of this charity

Join the charity Iris House Children’s Hospice in Bellville for a magical Mad Hatter’s High Tea on Saturday, 30 September 2017. The organisation’s Cuppa 4 Care event aims to raise funds to enable them to keep doing good work.

Support them by unleashing your inner tea nut and creative spirit and joining them on the lawns for a magical afternoon. What’s more, Iris House will also be auctioning art on the day – it’s the ideal opportunity to buy yourself something beautiful, while also supporting a very worthy cause.

The Mad Hatter theme means that the venue will be alive with quirky decor (some of which you get to create) to match the vibe of the high tea, and filled with crazy and colourful characters all dressed up… that includes you, by the way, dress to impress in your most outrageous Mad Hatter’s Tea Party outfit – be it the White Rabbit, Alice or the Cheshire cat, it’s all about having fun!  

Tables at the event will seat either six or eight people, so why not invite all your mad hatter friends and fill an entire table? More reason to book an entire table is because you’ll then be responsible for festooning it with decor to fit the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party theme. The best ‘dressed’ tables will win prizes, so get creative and go as over the top, colourful, and potty as you like! If your decor doesn’t snag you a win, don’t worry, there’ll be tombola prizes up for grabs too. As befits a high tea, there will be lots of delicious snacks and of course plenty a pot of tea, all provided by Iris House. The event will be further enhance by the beautiful sounds of Barbara Kleinpenning on piano. And don’t forget, there’s also the art auction where you’re guaranteed to pick up both classic and modern gems.

Iris House Children’s Hospice provides care, as well as overnight stays, for children and young people with special needs or life-threatening conditions, with the aim of giving them the best quality of life possible.

As part of this, Iris House has various programmes run by volunteers that include equine therapy through assisted horse riding, surfing for children with special needs, arts and crafts, and more. It also provides support to the families of these young people. The House relies on donations and funding to keep going, which highlights the importance of events such as this one.
