The Sky’s The Limit At This Annual Kite Fest Supporting Mental Health
Go fly a kite, plus you can learn how to make your own
The Cape Town International Kite Festival is back again with its 23rd edition on Saturday 27 October and Sunday 28 October 2018 at Zandvlei Nature Reserve, Muizenberg.
This fun family festival has become one of South Africa’s biggest mental health awareness events, with all the profits going to Cape Mental Health, who provide essential care for children and adults suffering from mental illnesses within Cape Town and across the country.
Cape Mental health director Ingrid Daniels says children and adults with mental health needs have the same human rights as everyone else, and the festival celebrates everyone’s right to fly. "We all have the basic right to fly – to explore our abilities, develop our skills and soar freely at home, work, school and in our community.”
No kite? No worries. There will be a free kite-making workshop for kids and adults alike, as well as live entertainment and kids’ games throughout the day. For a jam-packed day like this, food is a necessity and you are welcome to bring along your picnic baskets, but a gourmet food market will also be available for all your nibbles.
