Cool Family Stuff To Do With Kids Over the Winter Holidays
An all-weather theme park, glow-in-the-dark mini-golf, laser tag, free and indoor activities plus restaurants that love catering for kids
Last Update: 21 June 2018
School’s out: put down your pens and get ready for three-and-a-half weeks of fun and madness. The June-July holidays run from 22 June to 17 July this year, but there’s no need to feel stuck for ways of keeping the brood entertained, mom and dad.
We’ve rounded up a sweet selection of places and activities where they can burn off all that extra energy – and you can get out and have some wholesome family fun, too. Plus: also look out for our awesome free and cheap adventure ideas and kid-friendly restaurants for keeping those little tummies full and happy.
ALL-WEATHER THEME PARK AND INDOOR PLAY
Cape Town’s coolest playpark does kids adventure-play right, no matter the weather. On sunny days they have loads of rides for 3 to 12 year olds, a speed waterslide that’s open to everyone between 8 and 60, horse rides, a choo-choo train and tree houses to play in. There’s also an animal farm and playhouses. And, when the weather’s not playing along, they have a stunning indoor play area near the tuckshop and restaurant, as well as eight indoor private party areas with activities, rides and games – perfect for hosting birthdays, too. Check out Bugz PlayPark in Kraaifontein.
Open: Mon–Sun: 9am–5pm

There’s a kiosk that serves food, drinks, sweeties and wine (this is a wine farm, remember) and other activities for the family include a big cats experience and an exciting game drive. Head down to Vredenheim Animal Farm in Stellenbosch.
