Holden Manz reveals an exotic winter menu

The Franschhoek Kitchen introduces Pacific Rim flavours to SA’s french valley

The Franschhoek Kitchen at Holden Manz Wine Estate, one of the esteemed valley’s finest restaurants, has rolled out its 2012 Pacific Rim winter menu.

Driven by an ethos centred on fresh, seasonal produce and inspired by world food trends, Executive Chef Cheyne Morrisby conjured up the exotic offering with international standards in mind.

“It’s completely different from the typical French flavours that you usually find in the valley,” he explains, “we’re trying to introduce something fresh here.”

That said, winter meals at Holden Manz aren’t about high dining; rather, guests are encouraged to enjoy homemade food that takes its cue from the simple beauty of the surrounding countryside.

Fruits and vegetables are even sourced from on-site orchards, and, of course, signature wines from Holden Manz are available to complement the bold flavours of the dishes.

Guests can look forward to starters like pea and mint soup and Keralan spiced squid served with green chilli purée,  miso mayo and lotus root crips; mains like duck breast, juicy pork belly or sirloin served with spring onion and ginger purée, red kimchi and crisp anchovy butter dauphinoise; and decadent desserts like cocoa bean Belgian chocolate mousse with salted caramel or the heavenly dessert trio of cereal milk with miso butterscotch, white chocolate and sesame cheesecake, and warm pear, cinnamon and ginger compote.

Opening Hours: Tuesdays - Saturdays: 12pm – 3pm; 6pm – close; and Sundays for lunch:12pm – 4pm.
*Note: The Franschhoek Kitchen will be closed for the month of June, but will be open July and August.
