What is a better start of the evening then a glass of South African wine on Table Mountain, overlooking this magnificent city while the sun is slipping in the Atlantic? During the summer months, the cable car of Table Moutain - The Table Mountain Aerial Cable Way - is open until in the evening.
From 16 September to 31 October the Cable car goes up until 18:00 hrs and the last cable car descends to the lower cable car station at 19:00 hrs.
Between 1 November and 30 November, the last trip of the Aerial Cable to Table Mountain's summit is at 19:00 hrs. The last cabel car down will be at 20:00 hrs. From 1 December to 31 December, the last Cable Car goes up at 21:00 hrs while the last one descends to the foot of Table Mountain at 22:00 hrs.
Not unimportant: throughout the year, the first cable car takes off for Table Mountain flat summit at 08:30 in the morning. After that, a cable car goes up every ten to fifteen minutes.
Keep in mind that the Table Mountain Aerial cable way does not run in case of strong wind, thick fog and other extreme weather circumstances. Contact 021 424 81 81 to know for sure if the cable car is running. The changable and unpredictable weather circumstances make is impossible for the Table Mountain Aerial cableway to accept bookings.
The prices of the Cable Way tickets are as follows: - For Adults: R115.00 a return or R60.00 a single
- International and South African students pay R84.00 for a return R42.00 for a single ticket.
- Minors under 18 years pay R60.00 for a return and R30.00 for a single.
- Family Tickets (2 Adults & 2 Children under 18) cost R295.00
Table Mountain has various specials: their new year's special for instance. On 31 December, the last cable car going is at 01:00 on January 1st. Experience the magic of cape Town celebrating new year, seen from above. If you go up after 19:00 hrs, your return ticket will be half price!
Especially for South African citizens, Table Mountain Aerial Cable Way offers the following specials:
- On the day of your birthday, present your South and you will get one free return ticket to enjoy up the cableway on your birthday. The promotion ends 31st December 2006 and is valid for adults only.
- Until 31 September 2006 South African senior citizens over the age of 60 years receive, on presentation of a valid South African ID, a return ticket for R60.00 instead of R115.
