Lion's Head is situated between Cape Town's famous Table Mountain and Signal Hill, and forms part of the dramatic backdrop to our famous city.
In the 17th century Lion's Head was called Ye Sugar Loaf by the English and Leeuwen Kop by the Dutch, while Signal Hill was known as Leeuwen Staart (Lion's tail).
For the more adventurous, there is a strenuous hiking trail of approximately two hours that offers the best views of the city and overlooks Camps Bay and Sea Point.
For the more cautious or beginners, there is an alternative route, which will take a little longer. Let that not stop you; a picnic on top of Lion's Head is a Cape Town must-do that's non-negotiable!
The views over Cape Town and Camps Bay - whether by day or by night - are truly remarkable. It is quite magical ... and romantic! Please do yourself a favour: don't forget your camera! The sunsets from Lion's Head are spectacular.
