Outdoor Yoga Experiences for Everyone With The Om Revolution

A wellness experience for the bucket-list, or your weekly fitness ritual... Choose where you want to om, who you want to om with, and get your zen on!

Outdoor yoga experiences for everyone with The Om Revolution

Beach yoga, mountain yoga, private garden yoga... take your pick. This popular mind-body movement has come a long way since Cape Town's first yoga mobile studio, The Om Revolution, opened its doors in 2014. This wellness-focused company is all about creating yoga experiences for every fitness level – and celebrating the best scenery the Mother City has to offer.

It comes as no surprise that their public yoga classes are so popular. Tarryn James, manager for The Om Revolution explains: “Outdoor yoga is about more than just the physical postures. It's about connecting to nature and finding a way to link your moving meditation to each breath in the beautiful fresh air.” An hour of mindful breath and movement synchronisation outside is a great way to align mind and body health.

Yogis of all fitness levels, including newbies, are invited to join in the weekly 60-minute public yoga classes that run from November to April. Classes are R50/p, which makes this an ideal excuse to enjoy some time in “nature's studio” on the fly Or, maybe even a weekly wellness ritual with your besties. Weekly classes:

·   Tuesdays at 5:45pm in the Company’s Gardens

·   Wednesdays at 6pm at Century City Central Park Field

·   Thursdays at 6pm at Keurboom Park, Rondebosch

·   Saturdays at 9am in the Company Gardens

·   Sundays at 6:15pm at Clifton 3rd Beach

While weekly classes are incredible for finding your zen or making new friends, there's something to be said for once-in-a-lifetime wellness experiences. Enter The Om Revolution yoga experiences – tailor-made yoga classes where you get to decide who you want to om with, what yoga style you want to om to, and where you want to om.

Outdoor yoga experiences

Each personalised yoga experience is set in Cape Town's most scenic locations, including Kirstenbosch Gardens, Chapman's Peak, Signal Hill, the Company’s Garden, Clifton Beach, Blouberg Beach or Table Mountain. But, if you have another breathtaking local spot in mind, feel free to request it.

Of course, no special occasion is complete without that magic moment picture, so don't forget to bring your camera. Yoga experiences are limited to 20 people, so you’re guaranteed individual attention – and serenity! – and prices start at R990/p with an additional R150/p joining fee. If it's a memorable birthday event you're after, a surprise for your special someone, or an amazing weekend activity with friends, this is definitely one for the bucket list.

Private yoga and lifestyle products

If yoga away from the crowds – or the weather – is more your style, The Om Revolution also offers private yoga classes. Set in the comfort of your own home, these individual classes are tailored to your fitness level and are ideal for perfecting your yogi posture. Classes start at R380/p.

The Om Revolution also sell unique environmentally-friendly yoga mats made from recycled cork. These mats are designed with imprinted lines to help guide the placement of your hands and feet. Gift vouchers and yogi hampers are also available to purchase on their website – perfect for the wellness gurus or hardcore yogis in your life!

There really is something for everyone. Whether you're posing in your back garden, on the beach, or atop Table Mountain, one thing's for sure: there's nothing quite like getting your zen on in nature. As Tarryn states: “These unbelievable surroundings bring the greatest sense of mindfulness to your yoga that will make you feel completely relaxed.

Tip: Outdoor classes can get a little busy depending on the weekend, so try to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to sign in and pay (cash or SnapScan), grab your spot and chill out before the class starts.
Bill: Public yoga classes are R50/p, while outdoor yoga experiences start at R990/p with an additional R150/p joining. Yoga mats range in price between R550 and R890.
