Acclaimed South African band, Mafikizolo is taking their fans on an unforgettable musical journey with their new album, that's named after a classic 1950's car.

The talented group has released the album after a much deserved two-year break. The album - Six Mabone - has received rave reviews and went straight to platinum in South Africa, in the first two weeks of its release.

Six Mabone is crammed with the same hip-shaking blend of afro pop infused with marabi and kwela that has become the group's trademark over the years. It also contains soulful blues and swing elements.

Band member, Nhlanhla, says the title of their new album - Six Mabone - is the township name given to a classic car with six lights at the back that was popular in the 1950's. According to the band, this car had the same status in the 1950's that a BMW has today.

The title track fits Mafikizolo's trademark 1950's and ‘60's themes. The band is known for their retro-infused sound and even dresses up in ‘50's Sophiatown-inspired outfits and hats when performing.

Six Mabone reaffirms their position as one of South Africa's top musical acts and is bound to help the group pick up many new international fans along the way.

This song Ndihambe Nawe ("I'm coming home with you...") was taken from their album Sibongile, and was blasting from the speakers in every taxi minibus and local shebeen in 2004/2005.
