CapeTownMagazine.com unwraps all of Cape Town and South Africa, including its cookies! Try Nutty Fudge Brownies and Chewy cookies in a Ginger Wrap, just two of the many mouth-watering cookie creations by the Khayelitsha Cookie Company.

These 'be careful not to eat your fingers' cookies are handmade in the township, 35km outside of Cape Town. These yummy creations give you a taste of what South Africa has to offer. And beware: You will be begging for more!

The Khayelitsha Cookie Company
is one of the many community projects in Cape Town that tries to make a difference and contributes to the lives of disadvantaged South-Africans.

The project was founded Alicia Polak
from the US. She saw a need to assist the people in the township of Khayelitsha, but she wanted to assist in a sustainable way. Thus, not only by giving. She wanted to create a business that would become self-sustainable through training and assisting the community.

Since then, skilled women from the
townships of Mfuleni and Khayelitsha make, bake and pack each and every cookie by hand. Each employee is cross-trained in every aspect of the business, from customer service to packaging and basic computer skills. The Khayelitsha Cookie Company donates a percentage of turnover to the Philani Centre, in order to support children who suffer from chronic malnutrition.

The home of Khayelitsha Cookie Company
is in Mfuleni, which is basically glued to the township of Khayelitsha. Only the best equipment is used and the kitchens are truly spotless.

Try the creations
of the Khayelitsha Cookie Company at for instance Seattle Coffee Company or at one of the Protea Hotels. Or taste them during a Kulula flight to or from Cape Town. You can also order them straight from the factory by calling Zanele at + 27 (0) 21 510 2300

Last but not least: You can taste the cookies by ordering the CapeTownMagazine.com Arrival Package. Included are: The Nutty Fudge Brownie or the Chocolate chunk in chewy cookie.

The Arrival Package of CapeTownMagazine.com
also includes the latest edition of Time Out Cape Town Magazine, an airport pick-up, a Streetwires surprise, a cape Town city guide, a free simcard, a CD of choice and much more ...
