Sprint Selflessly in Cape Town’s First Sport Relief Mile

Walk, Jog, Sprint and Rise To The Challenge

With a crowd of more than 400 000  runners in the last UK run held – the Sport Relief Mile has proven itself an exciting, easy and especially successful charity race. Now it’s your chance to make a difference for the children of the Mother City, in the inaugural Cape Town Sport Relief Mile!

First started in the UK eight years ago as a charity sports event aiming to make a real difference, the Sport Relief Mile soon attracted all manner of celebrity and philanthropy due to its simple approach and fun, winning formula - quickly becoming a highly anticipated event.

Whether you’re fit, fat, full of vigour or completely lazy, it doesn’t matter! What matters is your willingness to take part in a exciting event, alongside thousands of other participants in this worthy cause. The different categories for the race, which consists of  a 1 (1.6 km), 3 (4.8 km) or 5 Mile (8km) fun walk or run, means you can take part in this important event no matter your age or heart rate - everyone ends up a winner - especially the child welfare fund, who will receive ALL the sponsorship money raised from the race.

The route is straightforward as can be, even for the most geographically challenged.  Starting at the Lookout at the V & A Waterfront, following the scenic and interesting beachside promenade, (taking runners past the majestic new Cape Town Stadium) and ending back at the Lookout.

Enter as a solo participant, or even make your own team – race along your work colleagues or family members, or if so inclined make up your own fun theme and deck your friends out in the most ridiculous outfits you can think of, you won’t be alone. If you turn around and squint into the distance you might even see us valiantly wheezing along.
