Cocktails, sultry Cuban and elegance in Green Point and Mouille Point

Walk along the promenade singing 'Staying Alive' and you'll fit right in

Don't overlook the nightlife in Green Point and Mouille Point. Just because these areas are home to affluent suburbs, it doesn't mean that their nightlife doesn't accommodate all walks of life. Just because these areas may be small, it doesn’t mean they are not visited by thousands of local and international night owls. Why? Because a lighthouse, a promenade, a majestic soccer stadium and the Atlantic ocean is the ideal setting  for the kind of cocktail lounges, sultry Cuban eateries and elegant nightclubs that showcase the best of Cape Town's socialites. Definitely worth a look.

We at CapeTownMagazine.com took a stroll along Green Point's Main Road and Mouille Point's promenade, to seek out the nightlife gems that attract the crème of Mother City revellers.

Monday night:
Join the who's who of Cape Town's social elite at Kenny Kunene's lavish club, ZAR. Relaxing in the soft, white and plush champagne room, you can sip on the finest Armand de Brignac and dance to commercial RnB.

Tuesday night:
At the Waterfront's Buena Vista Social Café a lively chunk of authentic Cuban awaits: antique chairs, broken down walls and a heated veranda. Dine on paella or a classic Lamb al Ron, or sip on a Cuban Long Island before taking to the floor with your salsa dancing instructor, Carlos.

Wednesday night:
After a leisurely stroll along the promenade, why not lie back on large wicker couch for a relaxing sundowner at Wafu? Just upstairs from Wakame, Wafu marries picture-perfect, sunset views with Asian cuisine and classic cocktails.
Wafu | 1st Floor | Corner of Beach Road and Surrey Place | Mouille Point | Cape Town | +27 (0)21 433 2377

Thursday night:
When you enter Jade champagne bar and lounge you can't help but notice the decor. Its French flair and grand arm chairs ooze sophistication, yet the Green Point club boasts a staff and crowd that make you feel as though you're relaxing in your own living room. A DJ spins commercial music whilst you stand chatting on a glass fronted balcony with magnificent views of Cape Town Stadium.

Friday night:
Opt for a little urban glamour by the ocean at Mouille Point’s Pepenero. With a beautiful, intimate interior, you can listen to soft jazz while sipping on award-winning wine and champagne. Their seafood specials include a seafood platter for R129; sushi platter for R109 and crayfish tails for R149. They also boast half price cocktails on selected cocktails only.

Saturday night:
It's time to hit the dance floor for a bit of a wind-down at hot Cape Town club, Casa Blanca. When we say hot, we mean smoking hot. Not only is the interior one of elegance and sophistication (think old world-charm), but this venue has drawn a good looking crowd. A DJ spins tech house and sexy beats deep into the night.
Casa Blanca | 12A-12B Portswood Road | Green Point | Cape Town | +27 (0)21 421 1185
