Cape Town Carnival kicks off with couture

BP Express presents Carnival Couture by Cape Town's top designers

The inaugural Cape Town Carnival Weekend kicks off with a fashion show featuring some of our best loved local designers, make-up artists and stylists. Expect an evening of style and glamour when top models and celebrities take the ramp at the V&A Waterfront.

The overall theme for the showcase is Carnival Couture, which brings to mind images of festive gowns inspired by the Cape Town Carnival. Each designer has to interpret the phrase 'Rhythm Roots and Boots' and will send 12 couture garments out onto the catwalk.

The last piece for each show is meant to be a purple showstopper in order to highlight the Carnival's colour for this year. Celebrities are meant to model the purple garments adding some extra glitz, but no names mentioned yet - it's a surprise!

Fashion lovers will have the opportunity to place orders after the shows. There will also be a unique chance to interact with the designers. Cape Town based designers such as Craig Port, Hip Hop, Paul van Zyl and Rosenwerth will make sure to start the weekend's festivities with a wow.
