Open Day at Mountain Brewing Co

Head out to Worcester for a day of good food and beer!

Craft beer is a big part of Cape Town culture. We all know the big ones like Devil’s Peak, Jack Black Brewing Co and Darling, but have you ever heard of the Mountain Brewing Co? This small brewery is nestled in Worcester and they produce some sensational beer! On Saturday, 26 August 2017 they are opening their brewhouse for a day of discovering new flavours and enjoying some truly delicious food.

The Mountain Brewing Co is located on the Klipbokkop Mountain Reserve between Worcester and Villiersdorp. This family run business started as a pub for locals, which then became so successful with a  demand so great that they started brewing their own beer (thus developing further and increasing their capacity) Don’t misunderstand; this brewery is still very much a small-batch boutique brewery with all of the associated charm, but they also offer a refined product that will delight any craft beer fan.

The Mountain Brewing Co range includes their signature Loadshed Lager, Sharing the Taste: MBCO Originals, Cape Kraken Belgian Amber Ale, Black or White Hy Smaak Oraait Vanilla Porter, Copper Dawn Lager and Madala’s Gold. Each and every one of these creations are brewed with the greatest care resulting in a dynamic range in flavour and style. The master brewers have gone to great lengths to ensure that their brews are of the highest quality. The Loadshed Lager was inspired by the energy crisis in 2014. The lager is primed with locally sourced (and badger friendly) honey, making it complex and naturally sweet. It's perfect for relaxing when the lights go out, or just generally on a hot summer's day! One of the most popular beers, the Cape Kraken Belgian Amber Ale, won a gold medal at the 2015 South African National Beer Trophy awards. It combines the best aspects of  Belgian beer in  a traditional amber ale.

Another of their beers is the Copper Dawn Lager, which was modelled on a traditional Austrian lager. The fruity aroma has an underlying hop flavour which makes this the perfect summer drink. This style of beer has travelled the world over and has delighted people everywhere. Of course, they have added a lekker local slant onto the Copper Dawn Lager making this particular brew incredibly unique. Head out to Worcester on Saturday, 26 August 2017 for a day of beer tasting and delectable eats.
