Jazz Sundays at Grand Africa Café & Beach

See out the weekend with a cozy session at this iconic seaside destination in Cape Town

Even though winter might be knocking on our door the Grand Africa Café & Beach will keeping its doors open during the chilly weather. It’s a well-known fact that if you keep up the festivities until late on Sunday, the weekend actually feels longer. And what better way to draw out the two-day break than with the smooth sounds of jazz music, accompanied by a crafted winter menu, all taking place while you look over the lapping waves on this private beach front? It’s a dreamy offering available at Grand Africa Café & Beach between 1.30pm and 5pm every Sunday until the end of winter 2017.

Although well-known for its summertime activites, the gorgeous seaside venue has recently undergone renovations to make itself the ideal winter destination too – fire places strategically situated around the interior create a warm and cosy environment for dinners (as well as the usual fluffy blankets to drape over ones shoulders). Whether the weather is stormy or calm, to keep you connected to world outside they will be adding glass doors as you enter the warehouse restaurant to create a truly inside/outside experience for diners.

Utilise their magnificent space for any functions or special events, with increased availability it is the ideal time to take advantage of their winter rates. The venue has a number of rooms that are catered for different sized groups, allowing them to cater to your needs specifically – whether you're looking to hold a more intimate 20-person conference (perhaps in the Secret Courtyard) or a bash of up to 1000 people (in the Grand Dining Hall).

You can enjoy the soothing tunes of live jazz as you settle down to the comforting, yet modern menu specifically crafted for the winter months. For drinks you can enjoy anything from Champagne to craft beer to cocktails (we recommend the Pomegranate Lemonade, the Vanilla Colada and the Grand African Tiki). You can nibble on their regular menu of fresh sushi, wood-fired pizza, a seafood platter, salad, steak with a few wintery additions such as soup of the day, roast chicken cassoulet, mussels in a fragrant coconut broth, beer-battered fish & chips or creamy mushroom potato gnocchi. Sit down to their set menu of either two or three courses.
