Franschhoek Uncorked Wine Festival
Say hello to spring at this family-friendly sip-and-swirl fiesta in the Winelands
The annual Franschhoek Uncorked wine festival is back to usher in the warmer weather with stunning new vintages and recently released wines on both Saturday, 16 and Sunday, 17 September 2017. Prepare for two solid days of divine wine tastings, mouth-watering fare, fresh food markets and the magical, breathtaking scenery of the Franschhoek Wine Valley.
Now in its ninth year, this event is spread across 16 farms in the famed grape-producing region. Attendees can look forward to activities like cellar and vineyard tours, barrel tastings, live entertainment and food and wine pairings.
Each venue has something special planned for guests, like kiddies’ entertainment, live jazz bands and cheese and olive tastings, so visitors are encouraged to farm hop and drink in all the fruits of the area’s vineyards. For example, tuck into a scrumptious cheese and wine platter at Alée Bleue, admire the talent of Ryan Smith and Chris Erasmus at Black Elephant Vintners, show off your swing at Dieu Donné Vineyard’s golf day, or enjoy a competitive game of boules at Rickety Bridge.
In addition to getting your fill of top-class reds and whites, festival-goers can also look at pretty paintings at the art exhibitions or pick up some gorgeous goodies at the market.
