Western Province VS Golden Lions Currie Cup Rugby Match

WP looks for victory in their match against Joburg’s wildcats

The Western Province rugby boys in blue and white are looking good ahead of their home clash against Joburg’s Golden Lions on Saturday, 23 August 2014 at Cape Town’s Newlands Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:05pm (see full 2014 Currie Cup fixtures).

The Cape side started the season with a convincing win of 36-15 over the Eastern Province Kings, and even managed to prance to victory with a heap of penalties in their wake. Speaking of which, coach Allister Coetzee will be looking for more disciplined play and less bad behavior as the tournament progresses.

On the other side of the field, the Golden Lions team is not only celebrating the club’s 125th birthday, but also a whopping triumph (41-13) over former champs, the Blue Bulls. Unfortunately though, the Jozi-based team was dealt a blow when star flyhoff Marnitz Boshoff sustained an arm fracture that will sideline him for the rest of the Currie Cup competition.

In short, it goes without saying that both teams will be fighting hard to come away with a win.
