Discover one of the Cape’s most over-looked wine routes and more at the 2015 Groenberg Festival (this affair was formerly known as the Wellington Harvest Festival) on Saturday, 14 March 2015. Vino lovers and connoisseurs alike can look forward to a one -day party in the Boland Winelands that not only pays homage to a successful crop, but also invites the world to uncover the authentic South African foods and fresh produce the region has to offer.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE 2015 GROENBERG WINE FESTIVAL
WINE, WINE AND MORE WINE: This year, organisers have made sure there’s plenty of vino to sample thanks to the Wine Theatre. Here guests can get up close and personal with some legendary winemakers who will be sharing their knowledge on all things wine-related. Sessions will run throughout the day and will include tastings of the regions best reds and whites.
KID-FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES: Making sure that little ones get to thoroughly enjoy themselves, the Groenberg Festival will host –a selection of activities with your little tyke in mind. Look out for a meet and greet of Tjiff en Tjaff on Saturday, costing R25p/p starting at 10am. But be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the rodeo bull and other fun family- friendly activties throughout the day.
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT: What’s a festival without some live entertainment? With a fun-filled variety show aptly named ‘Local is Lekker‘, festival-goers can look forward to being entertained by some great homegrown talent. If singing along to catchy tunes and a jolly atmosphere sounds more inviting then be sure to sit on the ‘Rocking the Vine‘ segment – where musicians will be performing. Most of all Afrikaans poprock singer, Bok van Blerk will be bringing his catchy tunes (and his orkes!) to the festival – so be sure to check that out if it sounds like your cup of tea.. Sports fans can also catch some of the super lekker rugby on show within the Makitie Hall. Catch the Stormers vs Chiefs match at 3pm and the Sharks vs Cheetahs clash at 5pm.
