Varsity MTB Challenge at La Paris Estate
Choose your preferred university and race through the Cape Winelands in this two-day multistage cycling event
Current and former university students are invited to put their best tyre forward at the inaugural Varsity MTB Challenge. The unique and vibrant event will take place on Saturday, 1 and Sunday, 2 October 2016 at La Paris Estate in Franschhoek and is open to all university students, alumni and anyone looking for a fantastic 110-km off-road cycling event through the heart of the stunning Franschhoek-Paarl Winelands.
1500 participants will race for their university of choice, which means that riders will be able to continue the healthy varsity rivalry and have an opportunity to network and reconnect with old mates in the process. Those who weren’t fortunate enough to experience the days of being a student can now get a taste of the colourful atmosphere and persistent attitudes associated with varsity sporting events.
The Varsity MTB Challenge will also bring together various university mountain bike teams, where they will compete against one another for the University Sports South Africa (USSA) Varsity Sports Mountain Bike title. The brave teams who will push through their hangovers include Maties (Stellenbosch University), Ikeys (University of Cape Town), Tuks (University of Pretoria), Pukke (North West University) and Madibaz (Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University) – who will put their endurance to the test for the title.

Tickets to the cycling event can be purchased online via Varsitymtbchallenge.co.za, and costs are detailed below. Each race has three categories you can choose from; Alumni, Students and General Public.

Entry fees include a race jersey and promotional goodies, dinner on the Friday evening, and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. FNB and RMB Private Bank cardholders will receive an additional 10% discount when booking online.
Registration will close two weeks prior to the event, but late registration can be completed by emailing info@varsitymtbchallenge.co.za
