The rule in the northern hemisphere is that you never eat shellfish in months that don’t have the letter ‘r’ in them, so, conversely, we in the southern end of the globe should munch on molluscs in those months. Thus, the Ultra Mussels Wine Tournament invites the hungry to once again celebrate seafood season and eat and drink as much as they can on Saturday, 30 July 2016 at Den Anker restaurant at the V&A Waterfront.
Presented by Ultra Liquors, the heaven-on-earth foodie fest promises a culinary pairing so perfect it may have been dreamt up by the gods themselves as each attendee gets a kilogram of fresh mussels and glassfuls of glorious wine to enjoy. That’s right, festival goers get one whole kilo of delicious shellfish to themselves, and they’ll get to play ref in a friendly battle of the sexes.
If you love ocean-fresh cuisine, this is the one festival that’ll ignite your foodie senses. Back by popular demand, the delicious seafood treats are just what the doctor ordered. This time around, guests will sample wines from one region.
While all the tucking in, sipping up and lip smacking is being done, festival goers will also be treated to feel-good tunes played and the atmosphere is sure to be jovial and filled with happy foot tapping attendees. So, go on and flex your (stomach) muscles and enjoy an indulgent day sampling the spoils of the Cape – fresh mussels.
TICKETS FOR THE 2016 ULTRA MUSSELS WINE TOURNAMENT IN CAPE TOWN
Tickets for Ultra Mussels are available online via Webtickets.co.za and cost R230p/p, which includes one kilogram of mussels, wine tastings and a souvenir wine glass. Do note that there are only 200 spots available, and no under-18s will be allowed.
