Tygerberg Children’s Choir Christmas Concerts

The annual choral performance series certain to set the tone for the festive season

The world champion Tygerberg Children’s Choir will once more serenade University of Stellenbosch audiences and signal the start of the festive season with their annual series of Christmas concerts during the months of November and December 2016.

Lauded for their beautiful renditions of popular holiday season favourites, including ‘Silent Night’, ‘Deck the Hall’, ‘O Holy Night’ and many more, these esteemed ambassadors of harmony will perform a varied programme bound to appeal to kids, adults, grannies and grandpas. 

For those unfamiliar with the crystal clear vocals and countless accomplishments of the group, it’s perhaps easiest simply to say that under the baton of internationally respected conductor, Hendrik D. Loock, the choral ensemble – it’s made up of children between the ages of 10 and 14 – has earned global regard and has performed for heads of state, politicians and even royalty. 

More specifically, they were crowned as the ‘World Champions’ at the 2010 World Choir Games (the Olympics of the choir world), they’ve won countless medals in classical music competitions even when pitted against much older choirs and they were nominated for the 2011 KykNet Fiesta Award for Classical Music as well.

Needless to say, these highly talented young musos are certain to take audiences on an unforgettable musical journey in honour of the Christmas season. 

PERFORMANCE DATES FOR THE 2016 TYGERBERG CHILDREN'S CHOIR CHRISTMAS CONCERTS

• Saturday, 26 November at 4pm
• Sunday, 27 November at 4pm
• Saturday, 3 December at 4pm
• Saturday, 3 December at 8pm

All performances will take place in Endler Hall on the University of Stellenbosch campus.
