The Warehouse Market opens its doors for the first time at 9:30am on Saturday, 4 July 2015 at the ColorBox Studios in Paarden Eiland. The monthly fair will feature loads of local and international artisans and their wares and is set to be the latest must-do on the city market agenda.
You can expect amazing food and drinks, such as freshly squeezed raw juices and smoothies, as well as a variety of coffees and hot beverages. For the peckish, there will be grass-fed free-range beef and kudu biltong, freshly made soup, home-made curries and rotis, wholesome gourmet burgers, and Caribbean cuisine on offer. If you like your gadgets and fancy yourself a bit of a maestro in the kitchen then the market offers kitchen appliances and products from around the globe that will help you take your cooking to the next level.
No market would be complete without clothing stands. Come and peruse the quirky tights that will be on sale or the stylish clothing accessories for little gentlemen (such as children’s fedora hats and custom-made suspenders and bow ties). There will be Bohemian-style winter clothing on offer as well as all the usual fashion bits-and-pieces and winter ranges from various vendors and brands.
Speaking of accessories, The Warehouse Market will have feather hair extensions and Native American-style jewellery on sale. There will be specialised movie, series, fantasy and gaming inspired jewellery too from popular modern productions such as Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and more. Local gemstone jewellers will also be displaying their creations, such as leather handbags and sandals.
There will be creative stalls too, showcasing various vintage artworks, hand-selected and original prints, etchings, engravings, lithographs and other forms of printed media. Have a look at unique hand-decorated pots or get your own ones customised or refurbished. You can also take your kids to the creative stall and let them get their hands dirty with the paint brushes as they learn mixed media techniques.
The Warehouse Market will have niche stalls too. The SEED stall will showing attendees the importance of the permaculture method of growing gardens. Get a temporary tattoo with the symbol of good luck, health and sensuality at the Mehndi henna stall. Nomadiq Music will be supplying the groovy tunes for the day and the Warehouse Market has teamed up with Uber to offer you safe trips to and from the market. New users can sign up for Uber with the promotional code ‘Warehouse2015’ in order to receive a free first ride for the value of up to R200.
