Pack Your Bags For This West Coast Crayfish Hike

Soak up the beauty of the West Coast with this two-night guided trail hike

The Two Day Crayfish Trail, taking place from Friday 6 July to Sunday 8 July has been designed for those who are looking for an escape from the bustle of the city. This getaway will have you feeling as though you have been on a safari trip as you make your way through the scenic Rocherpan Nature Reserve up the West Coast, an area famous for its crayfish. You can also take a visually guided trip through the West Coast flower season.

Expect magnificent scenes of immaculate beaches and caves laden with rock art on this guided journey. On Friday, you will enjoy a relaxed afternoon after check-in, then explore the on-site bird hides before sitting down to a delicious home-cooked meal and retiring early to prepare for the next day’s activities.

On Saturday, the day begins with a 7.5 or 15km hike that will last around 2.5 hours. On the route, you will experience the pristine landscape and more views of the beach before lunch. At midday, you will indulge in a satisfying lunch at Vensterklip, a protected wetland and important bird and biodiversity area. Afterwards, there’ll be a tour around the surfing capital of Elands Bay as well as sightseeing at Baboon Point, a provincial heritage site with caves containing meticulous rock art left by the San. To end the day, enjoy sundowners in a restaurant or bar of your choice while overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Then get ready to spend the night in this area.
