EARTHBOX is a first-of-its-kind ...
Experience an immersive sensory journey into the depths of the earth
Fans of sultry, spicy Latin American-style dancing are in for a shoe-shaking good time at the return of the highly successful Mzansi Cape Town Salsa Festival, an international dance event bringing together salsa DJs, instructors and performers from all over the world from Thursday, 20 to Sunday, 23 November 2014 at The River Club in Observatory.
The four-day fiesta features a dream line-up of events sure to delight anyone interested in cha-cha slides and racy rumbas. Alongside more than 40 workshops with top local and international salsa specialists, the festival also includes performances by dedicated dancers, showcases by DJs and, of course, great parties where attendees can give their hips a workout.
Everyone from beginners to experts can take advantage of having access to some of the globe’s finest instructors, who will give lessons in everything from cha-cha, African dance and Cape jazz to rumba, tango and more. Otherwise, if you’re more content to let the pros – think artists like Alien Ramirez from Cuba, Karel Flores from New York City and South Africa’s biggest salsa exports Marchant and Davina Birch – do the shimmies and shakes, there are more than 30 shows to enjoy. Not to mention, each festival day ends with a themed blowout – themes include Red and Black, Summer Chic with an African Twist and All White – where visitors can practise their newly acquired moves or partner up with someone with a little more experience.
