Experience an immersive sensory journey into the depths of the earth
“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells," Dr. Seuss famously said. And if it’s nonsense with a liberal helping of fun you’re looking for, then the 2015 Flamjangled Tea Party is just the thing for you! Hosted at Elandskloof Wine Farm in the Overberg from Friday, 27 to Sunday, 29 March 2015, the outrageous annual outdoor gathering offers revelers the opportunity to let loose in a magical setting while indulging in a hefty dose of high jinks and tomfoolery.
Brought to you by the creative team behind Balkanology and the popular Nu World Eve NYE parties, this Mad Hatter-type melting pot of foot-tapping tunes, creative (often comical) costumes and general eccentricity is far from your average weekend party.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2015 FLAMJANGLED TEA PARTY
A WACKY WEEKEND OF MUSIC: The wild alfresco jamboree invites party-goers to forego social conventions and indulge in the hilarity and buffoonery that is the essence of this weekend-long outdoor music festival. As always, the musical mix won’t feature mainstream melodies, but rather boogie-worthy world beats, freaky funk, rock ‘n’ roll, honky-tonk, sexy salsa, folk and much more. This year, revelers can expect to catch producer Thor Rixon, indie pop band Al Bairre, eclectic group John Wizards and more on the bill!
THE FANTASTIC FEAST: This year, the wacky festival has a secretive little shindig happening on Saturday, 28 March 2015. Dubbed ‘The Fantastic Feast‘, this hush-hush event will have a four-course meal with delicious vino featuring culinary delights from chef Murray warner. Due to limited space, booking will be essential and depends on the interest from potential attendees. The fun-filled loony event will cost R250p/p and vegetarians will be catered for.
ARTSY FARTSY FUN: Touted as a “party within a party, within a party...“ (the list goes on forever), the open-air fiesta is more than just a melodious carnival of debauchery; festival-goers can also take in (or be a part of) art exhibitions, delight in off-the-cuff performance work, attend workshops and even catch classic silent films in various mini venues. Not to mention, attendees can participate in a range of other absurd activities, including outlandish games, yoga and the ever-popular annual dress-up competitions (bring along as many costumes as you can carry).
TEA, ANYONE?: No flamjangled jol would be complete without tea! Lovers of the fragrant leaf can sip to their hearts’ content and choose from an extensive range of aromatic infusions. Not to mention, there will also be a host of delicious delights and delicacies on sale at the various food stalls.
SO... dress up and share in the madness. The Flamjangled Tea Party is an open, liberal playground, and everyone is invited to be a part of the kooky, madcap antics at this off-the-wall fair!
