The craft beer craze took hold of our pretty city some time ago, and the result has been that more and more artisan ale fiestas have splashed onto Cape Town social scene. The latest of the lot is The City Craft Beer Project festival, an all-new beery celebration that’s set to bubble onto the lawns of The River Club in Observatory from Saturday, 28 to Sunday, 29 March 2015.
Organised by local brew-focussed initiative The Craft Beer Project, this fresh event aims to unveil exciting new artisan ales, and 15 top micro-breweries will be showcasing novel creations made just for the festival.
One of the highlights of the fair is the inclusion of blind tastings, which invite attendees to test their knowledge of craft beer. Is your favourite IPA really your favourite? Can you prove your allegiance to a specific brand even when blindfolded? These fun sampling sessions will confirm loyalty and answer such pressing questions.
Though, the festival is not just limited to those who worship pale ales and pints. There will be a number of garagistes (independent, small-scale wine producers, for those not in the know) present at the event too, so vino fans can als look forward to having their thirst quenched. Cheers!
What’s more, Meisies Kitchen Food Truck and Cookies and Cream will be on standby to help ease the hunger pangs (and sweet tooths!) of festival-goers, and live entertainment will keep the mood very festive. Look out for the musical stylings of singer-songwriter Natasha Meister, chilled out reggae tunes from the Rivertones and beatbox extraordinaire, loneraynger.
And not to fear, parents can sign in their little ones into the River Club’s very own access-secured River Rascals Kids Club, which comes with close supervision by trained care-givers.
All in all, the two-day shindig promises to be a beer-tastic affair for everyone and anyone.
