The Ram Slam T20 challenge comes back to the beautiful Newlands Stadium on Sunday, 23 November 2014 when the Cape Cobras battle it out against the Highveld Lions.
The last time these teams clashed, the Lions walloped the boys from the Mother City with a 47- run win to clinch the top spot of the log. The Lions‘ winning score eventually came to 141 for seven, with outstanding performances from Chris Morris and Hardus Viljoen. As it stands, the Lions are set to have a successful run at the Ram Slam T20 competition.
It seems that this dire loss fueled Cape Town’s finest as the Cobras have just come off an electrifying win against the Unlimited Titans, provided by the gutsy Kiernan Pollard who stood his ground to get to an unbeaten 56 from just 29 balls. The boys in blue and yellow are currently standing fourth place on the logs, and have a lot to prove to their loyal homeground this time around.
Lions coach Geoffrey Toyana and Cape Cobras coach Paul Adams have developed a bit of a professional rivalry this season, which is only natural after facing off many times and having played cricket against each other (many moons ago). Toyana recently said of Gogga (Paul Adams), “He is like my nemesis. I am enjoying our battles with one another.”
The Cobras need all the support they can get and the Lions won’t be letting this match go to the wayside. All in all, spectators can expect a cracker of a match, so get down to the leafy streets of Newlands, grab a beer and back our boys.
