The Big Steak and Beer Dine Out

Beer and steak go together like wine and cheese, only better

There is no pairing like that of beer and steak. Men and women have lusted after this tasty combo for years, and Wild Clover know what constitutes good beer. Wild Clover Breweries is hosting an evening dedicated to the golden brew and the tasty chunk of meat at their Stellenbosch location on Friday, 24 June 2016. 

Take a break from the traditional wine and food pairing, and instead enjoy a good old-fashioned steak, chips and beer combo. Wild Clover Breweries produces four signature beers, which they serve on tap, and which they think will be excellently paired with a juicy steak. 

The Eagle Weiss is their fruity Wit beer (or Belgian wheat beer) which is actually produced more like a lager. Next is their Blind Mole which is a particularly tropical pilsner that is brewed with the famous Saaz Hop. The Double Owl is a brown ale with a decidedly citrusy undercurrent, with the perfect balance between hops and malt.  Lastly, but certainly not least, is the Black Dog; this unfiltered Irish porter is named lovingly after the breweries trusty security guard, Zach. This rich beer has coffee and chocolate notes, and is perfect for winter. 

Ampie Kruger set up Wild Clover Breweries in 2008, as a simple home brewing hobby. Now, in the year of its eighth birthday (kind of, as the brewery actually only opened in 2012), Wild Clover has grown exponentially and now produces some of the craft beers that our neck of the woods is so famous for.

Tickets are available online through Quicket.co.za, and cost either R145p/p or R155p/p depending on whether you want a 200g or a 300g steak. With your ticket, you get 400ml of beer, a meal of steak and chips (cooked to whichever temperature you prefer, just remember to specify), a delicious mushroom sauce, live entertainment and access to the bread table with freshly baked breads and various spreads. Also on offer is wine (and lots of it), chocolate dessert, and a cheddar melt steak option.
