The #BacardiWorkshop Cocktail Sessions at Café Caprice

Try out some of this Camps Bay gem’s latest colourful concoctions at just R25 each on Friday evenings

Camps Bay’s famed Café Caprice isn’t just revamping its look this winter; the institution is also shaking up its cocktail menu, and the good news is, you’re invited to get involved in the mixology makeover.

Between 5pm and 9pm every Friday until the end of September 2015, the oceanfront venue is running an interactive #BacardiWorkshop that gives regulars and newbies the chance to sample some of the latest creations-under-construction at the very reasonable price of R25 per drink (note: there’s no workshop on Friday, 24 July or Friday, 21 August – see dates below).

Alongside a classic mojito, daiquiri and cuba libre, all made with Bacardi rum, every week visitors can also try out three entirely novel concoctions that have recently been dreamed up by Café Caprice’s talented bartending team. The trio of unique creations changes weekly, so guests will get to sample a wide range of innovative drinks, like Bacardi Gold with grapefruit juice, egg white, Aperol and honey or Bacardi Superior with fresh lime juice, sugar syrup, chives and ginger, as just two examples.

The celebrated Johnny Bacardi, a well-known, rather handsome Caprice barman who knows more than just a thing or two about the premium rum, will join visitors at their tables to talk them through how to make the new concoctions. And after all the tasting and tutorials are done, guests are invited to give feedback about the drinks, to suggest creative names for them and to ultimately play a role in determining which masterpieces of mixology make it onto the café’s new 2015/2016 summer cocktail menu.

Aside from being a social, pocket-friendly sundowner experience, the #BacardiWorkshops are also a tip-top way to cap off the workweek and start the weekend celebrations. The bar’s resident DJs will man the decks to get everyone in the mood to groove, and otherwise, guests can just soak up the infectious vibe and stunning sunset sea views that Café Caprice has long been loved for.
