The Aussie Circus Spectacular in Cape Town

Gravity-defying feats and FMX high-octave action await at this auspicious Aussie affair

Remember the excitement you felt when you were small and watched the circus for the first time?

Can you recall the sense of palpable exhilaration as the crowd went silent when the ringmaster entered the arena in his gallant top hat? And the cheers as beautiful dancers swam in the sky suspended on silk, and the acrobats flick-flacked quickly across the floor? The show is perfect for a fabulous family day out, particularly as it is an ethical performance that doesn’t feature any animals. Clowns are also off the cards (because clown phobia is a real thing), so attendees can anticipate cheeky slapstick comedians instead. Aside from plenty of Australian humour, there’ll also be a number of daring, gravity-defying acts, such as a human cannonball soaring over the crowd, and the aptly named Globe of Death.

The Globe of Death is the centrepiece for some serious stunts, including motorbikes swarming around a dancing figure as the globe splits in half, and freestyle riders jumping over the sphere at the show’s conclusion. High adrenaline and high-octave action await, with plenty of FMX (Freestyle Motocross) antics to keep motor-heads and adventure addicts spellbound.

So bring your family to the circus for tricks, treats and magical, memorable moments filled with Aussie-inspired flair. There’s an evening show and morning/afternoon weekend matinee, which means you can take your little ones without breaking their bedtime routines.

Tickets are available from Computicket.com, Shoprite Checkers and any House & Home store. Online tickets cost between R250p/p and R450p/p depending on seating choice, but discounts are available for block bookings and children under the age of 14.

The evening shows start at 7pm, while the weekend matinees begin at 10am and 2pm. The show runs for 2 hours with a 15 minute interval.
