On Saturday, 29 October 2016, TEDxCapeTown, as part of an international TEDx initiative, calls on community members to create and engage in the global event ‘TEDx: Cape Town Women’, a day-long affair hosted at the Iziko Museum. Local women are taking centre stage at this prestigious event and we could not be more proud to boast some of these lovely local lasses.
TEDxCapeTownWomen has a theme this year and it’s Lixesha – It is time. Time is a social construct and a Western one at that, but how does linear time change our ideological perspective on event past, present and future? TEDxCape Town Women gives ladies a voice to express their opinions, exhibit their findings and create a social discussion.
The event promises a day filled with thought provoking talks as well as snacks and refreshments, followed by a social evening where a light dinner will be served. Seize this golden opportunity to mix and share your views with some of the most inspiring women in Cape. There will also be a TEDWomen live stream at the event, linking to the other TEDx talks all over the world.
TEDx is a non-profit organization, devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading”. TED started as a four-day conference nearly thirty years ago and has grown to initiate multiple global projects centred on sustainable change. TEDx (x = independently organized event), is a locally organised subsidiary event of TED and is devoted to bringing people together to share ideas and instigate deep discussion.
