South Africa VS Australia Test Cricket Match at Newlands
The Proteas face the boys from Down Under in a nail-biting Mother City match in March
The age-old rivalry between South Africa and Australia continues when the boys from Down Under begin their tour of Mzansi on Wednesday, 12 February 2014. The teams will play three Test matches and three Twenty20 games, and Cape Town is set to get some of the action when the third Test in the series is battled out at Sahara Park Newlands from Saturday, 1 to Wednesday, 5 March 2014.
The Proteas are sitting pretty in top position as the world’s number one Test cricket team, but it remains to be seen how the squad will perform without legendary all-rounder Jacques Kallis, who retired for good at the end of 2013. Ryan McLaren and Wayne Parnell were named as new additions to the national 15-man side that will be facing Australia; although, it seems more likely that Parnell will actually be playing in the first Test as the number seven batsman and as left-armed fast bowler.
To make things that much more tense, South Africa has not won a home series against the Aussies since unification (though, they have won the last two tournaments hosted in Australia), and in the post-Kallis era, both teams will have plenty to prove. So, brace yourselves for a nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat sort of game.
