Buy vintage, handmade and second-hand gems at Thrift Fest.
---
Second-hand fans, this is the event you’ve been waiting for! Taking place on Sunday, 24 September 2017, the Official Second Hand Market promises endless expanses of goodies to peruse, all for incredibly affordable prices. This time around, the event is being hosted at the Observatory Community Hall on Rawson Street.
Usually occupying the Novalis Ubuntu Institute on Rosmead Avenue, in Wynberg, the event rocks retro in a way only a few other markets can. There are hordes of treasures waiting to be found – from jewellery and vintage loveliness to décor and more. There’ll be over 75 stalls to browse between, making it the biggest second-hand market in our pretty city. You’ll be able to browse through the market for second-hand goods that are much cheaper than buying new ones! The market organisers make sure that their vendors are selling clean and quality products.
If you see an outfit that you simply must have, there will be changing rooms for you to use, but please make sure that you ask the stall owner for permission before doing so. This is a community-themed market, that started when Laura Rainbird created the Second Hand group on Facebook. Ever since, the group has grown and now has over 10,000 members, making sure that guests of the market will have a massive diverse selection of stuff to buy!
Bring your aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa, kids, and anyone else with an eye for gems and a heart for previously-loved objects; it’s set to be a busy and fun affair.
If you’d like to host a stall yourself, please contact the organiser on laurarnbrd@gmail.com. You may not get a stall for the September edition, but the markets in the following months are still open for booking; so get spring cleaning, sort through your wardrobe and make some extra cash for summer!
TICKETS FOR THE 2017 OFFICIAL SECOND HAND MARKET IN CAPE TOWN
Entry is R10/p for adults and R5/p for kids. The market runs from 10:30am until 3:30pm. Remember to carpool or utilise public transport as there’s limited parking available.
If you have any question or queries, please feel free to contact the organizer directly by dropping an email to laurarnbrd@gmail.com. Happy shopping!
