School’s Out! Vol II at Stags Head & Hectic on Hope

The second edition of this awesome bash invites you to get down and go wild because you can - studying is over for the term!

The name of this party says it all - it’s the holidays! School is over for the term, and it’s time to put away those exam worries and welcome in the winter vacation in the most fitting way possible - jolling all night long. Reward yourself for those stressful nights of last-minute cramming with some fun on Friday, 30 June 2017 at the School’s Out! Vol II party. Organised by young local entertainment duo, The Loneliest Monk, the second edition of this wild night will be happening at Stags Head & Hectic on Hope, a joint backpackers and nightclub in Gardens, a suburb right in the city bowl.

Expect an escape from the mainstream sounds you may hear at clubs most nights with the fresh line-up of Cape Town DJs. This will include Lo-castro, Joni Blud and Lord Gugi, all of whom will be channelling some mooi tunes into your ears.

Solo music maker Joni Blud hails from the warm city of Durban and is something of a musical enigma, going by various nom de plumes, such as DJ 909 CLAP and Pretty Sorry, the pseudonym under which he released his debut track, ‘Still in Bed’. It was a good start for a music career, infused with lo-fi rawness and a front apathy that seems thinly lie over unwanted emotion. You’ll be familiar with him if you’ve been to the niche party series Strictly 2000s, held at Fiction, a hip and happening club on Long Street.

Hectic on Hope, the indie club division of the venue, often hosts events that are more often-than-not of an alternative nature and attracts lovers of the underground scene. All are welcome, of course, and there’s something for everyone along with the music - a sports bar, several pool tables and a few foosball tables can be found here so you can hang around those for a more chilled evening should you not be in a dance mood.

A party’s not a party without a few drinks specials, of course, and School’s Out! caters to this (and helps you rid yourself of any exam stress that may be lingering). Here you will be able to get a double shot of spirits with a mixer for R35 and tequila shots for R15. Black Label and Castle draughts are available if you’re in need of an ice cold brew.

Dress up - this is a suggestion - because this is a celebration and special occasions are an extra good reason to don something extravagant and cool. We’re not talking matric-style gowns, ballroom shoes or ultra smart outfits, just something sassy and perhaps excluding frayed boardshorts.

TICKETS FOR THE 2017 SCHOOL’S OUT! VOL II AT STAGS HEAD AND HECTIC ON HOPE

There will be a pay-at-the-door entrance fee for this shindig. The cost will be R30p/p until 11pm, after which it will become R50p/p - the early bird catches the worm, people!
