Safari Half Marathon

Lace up those running shoes and take part in this stunning Cape Winelands run

The much-loved and anticipated Safari Half Marathon is back for the 29th time this year, and Liqui-Fruit is joining the party. Taking place at the Huguenot High School in Wellington on Monday, 2 May 2016 (which is a public holiday), thousands of entrants will set off on a challenging but beautiful run (or walk) through the surrounding winelands.

If you prefer a gentle stroll or a shorter run, then you have the option to take part in a 10-km run/walk or a 5-km fun run, as opposed to the full 21-km route. Once the races are done, and provided your feet still work, there will be live music and toe-tapping tunes to which you can dance, or simply chill out and recover. Food and drink stalls will be dotted around the venue so you can refuel and replenish after the morning exercise.

Besides the festive atmosphere and obvious health benefits of taking part, bask in the feel-good factor of knowing that your participation aids in supporting a charity too. This year’s chosen recipient is Alta du Toit Aftercare Centre, which is a Bellville safehaven for adults with intellectual disabilities, and aims to provide safe housing and employment for their 220 clients.
