SA Health and Fitness Expo at the CTICC

The mother of all fitness and lifestyle conventions returns to Cape Town for the second year

Capetonians are generally very active, which is no surprise considering how easy it is for the city’s inhabitants to access some of the most beautiful natural land and sea environments in the country. It is fitting then, that the annual SA Health & Fitness Expo returns to the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from Friday, 5 August to Sunday, 7 August 2016, for the second year in a row.

This event is the biggest of its kind in South Africa, and creates a platform where you can interact with industry experts and their products. It will feature some of the latest ideas and innovations in the fields of health, fitness, sport and wellness. So whether you are a fitness-junkie, corporate investor, athlete or someone looking to make a change in your life, this expo will have something to cater for your needs.

EIGHT ZONES OF THE 2016 SA HEALTH & FITNESS EXPO AT THE CTICC

The show will have eight zones, each one uniquely geared to a specific aspect of health and fitness:

ZONE 1: Strength and conditioning. Gyms will promote their services to possible clients via detailed information packages and demonstrations. Personal trainers will be able to provide information on their training methods and how to gain access to other forms of training and fitness, such as CrossFit courses or boot camps that offer more flexibility than subscription-based gym contracts.

ZONE 2: Commercial equipment. A variety of top-quality equipment manufacturers will display their products and latest innovations in this zone. You will be able to watch demonstrations on how to correctly use the equipment and learn about the specific muscles targeted by each machine.

ZONE 3: Fitness, fashion and training. This zone will allow retailers to show-off their training gear, so whether you love luminescent strap-tops or prefer to train in a black T-shirt, there will be clothing items to suit your taste. You will also be able to find fitness accessories such as shoes and gloves at one of the many stalls in this zone.

ZONE 4: Wellness and vitality. Make a positive change to your life by enhancing your wellbeing in this zone. You will be able to find some great beauty and relaxation products, as well as learn about yoga, massages and sauna treatments along with many other alternative therapies.

ZONE 5: Healthy eating. Find a diverse range of healthy and low-calorie, nutritional foods. You will learn about a variety of foods that can get you to your optimal physical health and help you maintain your desired body weight. There will be a daily Healthy Living Stage event which will display cooking demonstrations and information about ideal nutrition and healthy eating as well as contributions from celebrities.

ZONE 6: Education. You will find all the information you need about how to break into the health and fitness industry and make it a profession. You will learn about the different opportunities available to you by talking to people who are already making a successful career in the field.

ZONE 7: Outdoor adventure. This zone will focus on the vast variety of outdoor adventures, obstacle courses and clubs that are available in South Africa. From running and cycling, to swimming and mountain climbing, information about the extensive forms of non-gym based activities will be made available to you.

ZONE 8: Fight world. Everything related to contact sport will be available in this zone. Watch demonstrations on the various fighting disciplines and learn about what it takes to compete in competitions. Find the right equipment for the fighting style you want to master at the various stalls in this zone.

Stage events and entertainment. The expo will host a range of shows and activities to add to the excitement, as well as to give exhibitors an extra platform to display their services. You can expect to see some group fitness demonstrations or fashion shows of trendy fitness apparel. You can even join in on the stage and take part in the shows if you have the courage.
