Rolling with Peep Show CT Skaatstad Roller Disco

Stop, drop and skate over to this delightfully cheesy party guaranteed to get your heart rate going

A roller disco may not be a familiar term to most people nowadays, especially the younger generations. But if the mere sight of the words make you feel all nostalgic and excitable beyond reason then your month is about to be made. Peep Show CT and Skaatstad are teaming up to bring you a rocking roller disco on Saturday, 8 August 2015 at Space Between in Woodstock. This is part of a series of monthly events aimed at stimulating interest in the old-school but awesome skater sport.

Grab a bunch of mates and rock up for a festive night of shameless dancing to cheesy pop music from the 80s and 90s. What better way to cheer up that one friend who suffers from seasonal affective disorder (SAD – depression associated with winter) than by getting the blood flowing and endorphins coursing through the veins? Plus, you get the added pleasure of laughing at your less-coordinated buddy’s skating faux pas.

This disco-meets-performance art event aims to showcase artists and their work, whilst allowing guests to have the time of their lives on the dancefloor. Skaters can learn about roller skating and develop an appreciation for the culture behind the sport, including the roller derby that happens in the Mother City.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2015 ROLLING WITH PEEPSHOW CT SKAATSTAD ROLLER DISCO

This event is the next in a series of monthly roller discos organised by Peepshow CT. The disco will kick-off at 7:30pm with music and skating (obviously).

Then, at 8:30pm there will be a performance by a local up-and-coming artist. The performance will vary at each event.

At 9:30pm, the DJs return to the decks with a full array of 80s and 90s classics, all to allow you to get your groove on while you twist and twirl around the rink. This carries on until midnight when the event rolls to a stop.

Tickets to the event are available online via Quicket.co.za, and cost R50p/p. To hire skates will cost an additional R20p/p for 30 minutes, or R40p/p for an hour. Unfortunately, there will only be a limited number of skates available for hire on the night, so get there early to grab a set before they run out. Additionally, invest in your own pair and become a pro!
